I know, I know- another krispie treat post?
I hope you're not over these delicious marshmallow-y treats yet since these are too cute to pass up on-- it's the perfect alternative to candy for halloween parties. That curl you see on top is VERY important and keeps the pumpkin from looking like an orange so be sure not to skip that step. ;)
I packaged these up tonight to share tomorrow and they may possibly look even better in some plastic wrapping and raffia ribbon. Feeling hungry? Follow the steps below to make your own sweet pumpkins--
^^Mostly average ingredients. Start with the marshmallows and butter as you would in a standard rice cereal treat^^
^^After your marshmallows and butter are melted, mix in a generous amount of the gel coloring to get a bright orange hue^^
^^Stir in the cereal as normal and immediately transfer to a wax covered sheet pan. Let cool about 30 seconds-1 minute^^
^^After it slightly cools, take chunks of the mixture and form round pumpkin shapes in your hands. Be sure to coat them in butter/oil first to prevent sticking!^^
^^Stems were done by cutting some melting chocolates in quarters. Push into your pumpkins and place a gumpaste leaf next to it.^^
^^Cut the airhead into fine strips and curl around the toothpick. Slide down off the wood and place on the pumpkin near the stem and leaf. All done!^^
Want something even more holiday oriented? Grab some melting chocolates and draw a face on (that's hopefully much better looking than my photoshop attempt!
Now wishing I had made some Halloween faces on mine-- looks like I'll be making more soon!
xo, Elissa
