Fab Pic Friday

Besides the obvious DOMA correlation, this picture is extra fab because it was the first gay wedding featured by Martha Stewart Weddings. I'm totally digging their suits and follow the link above to see more pics from this masculine-inspired wedding!

YAY it's Friday!

Star Spangled Garland DIY

Can you believe it is almost the 4th of July?  Not that I'm complaining-- a holiday that is celebrated at the beach with some hot dogs and fireworks?  Count me in!  There is also no holiday more patriotic than Independence day, so I like to play up the red, white, and blue as much as possible.  This star garland is super easy to make and the stars could be used for other decor as well.  Interested? Follow the steps below to make your own!

^^I liked the mirror finish of the wrapping paper, but it didn't hold its shape outside as sturdy as the card stock stars did--be warned!^^

^^I watched this youtube tutorial to learn how!^^

^^This is what happens when you are folding stars for too long!^^

Easy right?  I hope this makes your celebration more festive!

Something Blue(berries)

via source

Blueberry season is in its peak and I couldn't be happier.  These tiny blue hued spheres are so delicious (sweet or tart!) and are the perfect summertime treat.  Plus with all those antioxidants and Vitamin C it is packed with, its definitely a snack that is perfect for the bride who wants to be  on her big day!  But for a bride who REALLY loves them, why not utilize this hued fruit for their something blue?  Nothing like starting a healthy marriage!

^^blueberry bouquet-- the perfect alliteration!^^

^^I guarantee only a very few will turn down a blueberry mojito!^^

^^sharing the love with your guests- a unique (and tasty!) place card^^

^^less icing + blueberries= a healthy cake...right?^^

While chocolate and other small sweets are still very popular, I think blueberries and fruits will be making a comeback in the wedding world!  Better go grab some now!

Marquee Monograms

via source

These vintage marquee letters have been on my mind lately so I am so excited to share the idea today!  Such a cool way to add personalization to your event with a HUGE wow factor--those lights? HELLO!  They would fit in perfect with a vintage type wedding (especially with the older carnival type fonts) but I'm such a fan that I can imagine them at any sort of wedding.  As intrigued as I am?  See below for how some other weddings used them!

So what do you think- jumping on the marquee train?  Some of the above images were even DIYs (what!) so now I'm itching to try it myself!

We DID Wednesday!

Holy cow this week has been busy!  And add that game last to it..!!! I had a feeling something that this week was going to be something epic, so I whipped up these special NBA-esque treats to serve at the Game 7 party you are obviously having!

^^This was so simple I felt silly writing a To-Do for it! Here's a simple run down:
1. Wash/Dry Strawberries (any water will mess up the consistency of the chocolate!)
2. Temper orange chocolate melts in double broiler
3.  Add gel coloring as needed to get ball color (I used copper & orange)
4. Dip Strawberries and place on parchment lined pan
5.  Transfer to fridge to cool ( I left them overnight)
6.  Take black icing/gel and use a small tip to pipe on ball lines
7.  Back to the fridge to harden the icing and ready to eat!

Also, one of my best friends graduated (Yay S!) and so I decided to fake a monogram and substitute her new degree for her initials!
I created this transfer myself with:
contact paper,
heat activated Swarovski crystals (worth the extra few bucks for that sparkle!), and
a heating tool.
^^The result was all I wanted-- and cost less than half that the company charges!  This can be heated on to anything, from robes to bags to candles-- perfect for bridal party gifts!  If anyone wants a tutorial let me know :)

I hope your week has been just as busy and exciting!

Seer Sucker Blues

Whenever I think of summer fabrics, seersucker is always right up there with linen.  This blue and white pattern is classically striped in a material that makes any occasion feel better and it's not just for men's suits anymore!  It's design is clean enough to pair with various colors (without looking like too much!) and would be the perfect "something blue" for a bride who wanted to emit a summer flair on her big day.  Check out some perfect examples of this print as a bride's honored hue!

^^For a bride who is truly faithful to seersucker!^^

^^The perfect wrap for her bouquet^^

^^Seersuckered red bottoms? Don't mind if I do!^^

^^Looks so delcious, you could eat it! ;)^^

via source
^^Can't forget that manicure-- seersucker meets bridal!^^

^^The littlest princess of the day clad in it^^

I simply can't get enough! Even though some might deem this a preppy thing, I love the clean look of it and can imagine it paired with other colored patterns to create a fresh, modern concept!  I'm can even see a future Thematic Thursday post based on this print, since I really focused it on the bridal side :)

Manly Monograms

via source

In honor of father's day, I thought I'd highlight some other ways the guys in your wedding can get their monogram on! (We first visited this topic with ties here).  This is the perfect way to personalize the attire for the men of your bridal party and be a nice gift that they can use well beyond the wedding.  While my favorite is the monogrammed pin (which is a great substitute for a boutonniere for a non-floral wedding [or groom!]), from handkerchiefs to belts to suspenders, the possibilities are endless!
