Thematic Thursday: WHITE HOT HEAT!

If you don't know, I'm a huge Miami Heat fan.  And even with the Bulls ending our streak (27 games is still AMAZING!), I'm even more hyped than before.  In the NBA during the playoffs, each team usually focuses on one of their colors to create a theme of sorts for the post-season games.  When the Heat won the championship in 2006 and 2012, they happen to utilize the "White Hot" theme both years.  Getting ready to kick into playoff mode, I'm dreaming about my White Hot Heat, and the party I'd love to throw to celebrate my team, without utilizing a major basketball theme.

Something about white parties has always given me a sexy feel, although to some they can come off as very pure and innocent.  On the sexy side, this would be perfect for an engagement celebration or welcome dinner before your big day (sounds like a way to ensure no one wears white to your wedding!), while bridal and baby showers would be celebrations that could showcase the pristine perspective.  Per usual, check out my Pinterest for more white warmth.

I'm a firm believer that white is a year round color, forget these labor/memorial day rules!

We Do Wednesday: Doesn't have to SUCK

I'm sensing a trend between these DIY posts and their Monogram Monday counterparts ;)  But seriously, after seeing those beauties on Monday, I had to do this, so easy and such a cute (and personalized!) addition to any event.

(PS: excuse my photography skills, it was late, lighting was bad, and I'm still learning!)

Knowing I wanted circles, I went to Michaels and purchased this punch from Martha Stewart.  I mean, Martha wouldn't lead me wrong in the crafting department right?  I'm always in need of circular shapes and I figured this would save me a lot of cutting and aggravation in the future- a worthwhile investment

In Microsoft Word, I created a circle approximately 1.5"x1.5" (the size of the punch) and made sure my graphics fit in each of them and fit next to each other.  After running a test sheet of regular paper (to make sure the punches didn't overlap), I printed it on cardstock, giving it a more finished feel.

I found that putting the paper in upside down helped me find the right placement so my graphics were perfectly centered in the circle.

Next up, flip it all over, and push down!  This wasn't as easy with cardstock as it was your normal computer paper, so I recommend using both hands :)

and I kept punching...

And punching... (oops, spot the messed up/missed one up there?)

And finally they were all 95% cut out

Reminds me of giant confetti!

I tried a 3 hole puncher, but found that an individual hole puncher gave me a more accurate result, ensuring that my holes were directly above/under each other

Just thread them into your straws (picked these babies up in the Michael's dollar section!) and wam, bam, thank you ma'am!  As I said, so easy to make, yet so impacting for any party!

See, didn't have to suck did it? :)  Until next time...

Tuesday Blues-day: Vroom Vroom!

Transportation is something that comes into play with most weddings.  For the more unique bride, why not make her "something blue" a fantastic vintage car?  Definitely makes a statement!

For a bride who isn't into wearing or displaying blue on her day otherwise, this is the perfect solution and it just keeps looking more appealing to me.

Flowing streamers, cans, or "Just Married" signs on the back add the perfect vintage touch.

Are you riding in a colored or vintage vehicle on your wedding day?  I'd love to hear about it!

Monogram Monday: Pick and Blow

While monograming your beverage liquid and containers isn't always possible, there are definitely some fun ways to make your items being consumed stand out!

Attaching your monogram to wooden picks makes it easy to pin them right in your appetizer or desserts (they'd be lovely in slices of wedding cake!)

Items like these can be super easy to DIY: just print, cut, and tape/glue on to straws, toothpicks, or skewers!

Even spices up the simplest of straws!

Another great way to achieve this look is by using an embosser on your tags and flags.  Still has that monogram flair but displays a more demure aesthetic.

Somehow, cupcakes look even more appetizing with a monogram sweetly placed in them!

What an easy way to add your personalized touch to anything delectable!

Thematic Thursday: Mint to be

This idea was brought on by a spontaneous investment.  After running to Target, desperate for duck tape for yesterday's post (Michael's was out- WHAT!), I threw these in my cart and bought them without even trying them on, since I've been searching for some mint bottoms.  I am THRILLED to say the least- good fit, great price, and my new favorite color (for this week at least!).  Thanks Tar-jay, for always providing me with inspiration (and draining my bank account).  While emerald may be Pantone's color of the year, I believe mint is giving it a run for it's money for spring.  Here's some Mint-spiration for your next soiree!

Hope all this mint freshens up your Thursday! ;)
