Thematic Thursday: Chevron

Don't mean to be too kitchy with the title, but who isn't digging chevron lately?  Touches of this pattern can really add a fun and modern flair to any event!  So my favorite unique options below, or hop on over to my pinterest board to let the fun continue!

Let's see how 2013 incorporate chevron into their events!

Tuesday Blues-day

If these don't brighten up your Tuesday I don't know what will!

While you can never go wrong with some red bottoms (just got my 1st pair this past Chanukkah! woop!) these custom sky-blue soles from Mr. Louboutin himself are a no brainer for any bride.  I featured these a few years back when I first started this blog and have been enamored ever since.  I loved seeing all the people that were still finding this image (thanks Pinterest!) and giving my blog some life even when I wasn't- thanks shoes!

To see the original post (with a custom Oscar de la Renta dress to go with those shoes!), click here.

Here's to all of your "something blues"

Oscars 2013

It’s no secret that everyone looks at celebrities for style inspiration, so why would it be any different for brides looking at these stars during awards season?  While these frocks may come in a multitude of colors (compared to the white shade we usually see brides adorn), inspiration can come from shape and fabrics, along with hair and jewels!  Here are my favorite dresses that I know will be inspiring gowns that come down the aisle this year.

Jennifer Lawrence in Dior Haute Couture, Chopard jewelry, and a Roger Vivier clutch
She is taking the dropped waist, fit and flare shape to the max, very reminiscent of Kenneth Pool!

Jessica Chastain in Armani Prive and Harry Winston jewelry
The perfect Old Hollywood, glamour dress!  The sparkle and shape are something I hope we will be seeing a lot of!

Amanda Seyfried in Alexander McQueen and Lorraine Schwartz jewelry
I love the keyhole neck and think will be more prominent in dresses this year--Robin Roberts also wore one!-- and the embroidery on this makes me think of Lazaro

Zoe Saldana in Alexis Mabille Couture, Roger Vivier shoes, and Neil Lane jewelry
I’m enamored the pairing of die-cut flower with the belt- the child of industrial and feminine!  And the  ombré at the bottom!

Amy Adams in Oscar de la Renta and Mouawad jewelry
The perfect princess gown, this could be a bridal gown in itself.  I love the soft gray color and the texture on the skirt.

Naomi Watts in Armani Prive and Neil Lane jewelry
As more girls are wanting a different look than strapless, unique necklines/sleeves are definitely on my wedding radar.

And my WINNER for Overall Oscar Look:

Charlize Theoron in Dior Haute Couture and Harry Winston jewelry
How much can I gush about this look?  The photograph below is doing it no justice-  from the cropped cut to the structured peplum dress, she knocked it out of the park!  Plus, how many people do you know that can pull of a WHITE white dress?

In all, I’m hoping that the Oscar trends that will influence wedding fashion are unique necklines, side swept hair, and more interesting backs (with necklaces a la Jennifer Lawrence!)

Just like many of my brides, these ladies will be changing into new dresses for the after parties- I know more inspiration will be coming from these next flirty frocks.  It'll be fun to see how many of these designers' trends show up on their runways when they premiere their new collections during bridal fashion week!

Until next awards season!

The most wonderful time of the year!

(I preface this post by saying I’m a theme-aholic.  I shop all year for theme-y items for themed events.  It’s a sickness… you have been warned!)
a little DIY Valentine’s Mani!

For someone who works in the wedding industry, it must not be very surprising that today’s revelation revolves around my obsession with a holiday that loves hearts, pink, and well, LOVE.  Ever since sending 100s of roses in high school, I knew I always had to commemorate this special day.  Valentine’s day isn’t just about celebrating the love of your soul mate (although that’s awesome too!) but just the love you have for everyone surrounding you.  I took it upon myself a few years ago to make sure all of my friends always felt love throughout these holidays, thus how the Valentine boxes were started

(all photos/captions courtesey my friends)

“YOU my friend have a package" -my doorman, understandably. I love you @lissyschneider my valentine for 10 years!

Little presents fill these boxes of Valentine’s theme.  While it doesn’t cost a whole lot (PS- the shipping on these babies cost more than the contents, OOPS!) it certainly hits home with my nearest and dearest.  Plus, the box (and necessary box decorations) are F-R-E-E!

valentine's day package from @lissyschneider thank you!!!! I'm in love

Even if it’s just a card, the impact it will have will be monumental.  Who doesn’t love a little love?
@lissyschneider you are the best friend anyone could as for. Thank you so much for vday box of goodies!!

I’ll leave with my senior quote from my high school yearbook—
“Somewhere there’s someone who dreams of your smile,
And finds in your presence that life is worthwhile,
So whenever you’re lonely, remember its true—
Someone somewhere is thinking of you!”
My workshop in action!

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Harbaugh Bowl

So the Super Bowl is this weekend.  And we just got one of these 70” 3D TVs.   Perfect set up for a fab Super bowl party-- a party planners dream right?  Well, a certain green line didn’t think so, which conveniently showed up running down the screen a week before the big game.  Thankfully, it is still under warranty (PHEW) but there went my fiesta! A girl can still dream though right?  Here are a few unique ideas I love for anyone having a Super Bowl (excuse me, Harbaugh Bowl!) Shindig at your home.

This link has TONS of great FREE printables for both teams: from water bottle labels, to cupcake toppers and banners!  Adding a personalized and festive touch! (& did I mention they were FREE?)

I have a love affair with paper chains for casual parties (so festive!) so this instantly called to me

& end it all with a (semi)healthy football dessert

Go Team!
